Henry County Board of Education Approves Appointment of Quavious Wright as Founding Principal of Birch Creek Elementary School
HENRY COUNTY, GA – Birch Creek Elementary School, scheduled to open its doors in August 2024, has its founding principal with the appointment of Quavious Wright, approved by the Board of Education during executive session on Nov. 13.
Wright, who most recently served as an assistant principal at Wesley Lakes Elementary in McDonough, will begin assembling Birch Creek Elementary’s leadership team and staff over the next several months.
“Quavious Wright is a product of Henry County Schools and brings experience and vision to this pivotal role as the founding principal for Birch Creek Elementary,” said Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis. “Mr. Wright has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, and dedication to student achievement throughout his career.”
Wright, a native of Hampton, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education from Fort Valley State University, Master of Science degree in teaching and learning from Liberty University, and Education Specialist degree in leadership from Thomas University.
“The appointment of Mr. Wright reflects the Board of Education’s commitment to providing a high-quality, world-class education for every student,” said Chief School Leadership Officer Mary Ann Suddeth. “Mr. Wright emerged as the standout candidate through a rigorous selection process that considered his innovative approaches to data-driven instruction, dedication to the success of all students, and proven track record of fostering a collaborative and supportive school culture.”

I look forward to working with all stakeholders to start new traditions and establish a culture of collaboration to create the best learning environment possible for our students.”
Birch Creek Elementary, which will be the district’s 53rd school and 29th elementary school, is currently under construction at 850 Willow Lane in McDonough. It is the district’s first new school prompting new attendance zones in over a decade.
