Henry County Board of Education Approves Appointment of Travis Chapman as Principal of Dutchtown High School

HENRY COUNTY, GA – The Henry County Board of Education approved Travis Chapman as the new principal of Dutchtown High School during its July business meeting.

“I am excited to welcome Travis Chapman as the new principal of Dutchtown High School,” said Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership Dr. Joycelyn Jackson. “His extensive educational background, proven leadership skills, dedication to student success, and ability to build strong relationships with families make him an ideal fit for the Dutchtown community. I am confident that under his guidance, DHS will continue its tradition of excellence while fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.”

Chapman brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of enhancing instructional practices and promoting academic achievement. His 28 years of experience in education include distinguished service in teaching and school leadership positions.

“Being appointed as principal of Dutchtown High School is both an honor and a calling,” Chapman said. “I am committed to building on the school’s proud tradition of excellence by fostering a culture where every student is educated with purpose, encouraged with compassion, and empowered to succeed. Together, we will lead with clarity, collaborate with intention, and strive for exceptional outcomes for all.”

Chapman is dedicated to community engagement and believes in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can realize their academic and personal goals. His collaborative approach unites students, teachers, and families in a shared vision that enhances the educational experience and promotes a high-performance culture.

Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science in environmental systems and design and a Master of Science in science education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, as well as certifications in curriculum and instruction from North Carolina State University and educational leadership from the University of West Georgia.

“Mr. Chapman’s background in education reflects a true commitment not only to exemplary leadership, but also to student success and well-being,” said Superintendent Dr. John Pace III. “We are confident that his passion for education and collaborative leadership style will enhance the learning environment for students and staff alike, and we are proud to welcome him to our vibrant learning community.”

Chapman officially began his tenure as principal of Dutchtown High School on July 21.
