Henry County Board of Education Chair Sophe Pope provides an update to the community on the search for a new permanent Superintendent for Henry County School District during the March Study Session of the Board. A full transcript of her remarks can be found below the video. 

As you are aware by now, we are beginning the search process for our next Superintendent of Henry County School District. I want to use this time at the start of our meeting to provide the community with an update regarding the process, as we are committed to being transparent and informative along the way.

First and foremost, I want to thank Dr. Knowlton for his wonderful leadership as he begins his role as Interim Superintendent. Dr. Knowlton, I am so confident in your ability to lead us through this season and am very grateful you’re willing to serve in this capacity.

With that being said, the Board of Education has secured Georgia School Board Association (GSBA) as the search firm that will help conduct the search for our next Superintendent. We know the value this community places on the quality of our schools and our leadership. The process will include community input to help develop the leader profile of our next Superintendent, and details on that will be forthcoming very soon. We have a page on our website dedicated to the search, and these updates along with any other information available will be housed there.

We are also committed to confidentiality throughout this process and want to be clear that no staff members will be present during Executive Session where confidential updates or discussions are taking place.

I am so incredibly grateful to live in a community so unified around public education, all sharing the strong conviction of wanting more, wanting increased opportunities, access, and outcomes for every single student. And while GSBA is guiding the process, this Board is grounding this process in our community's work. We have core policies, a Community-Inspired Strategic Plan, Priority Student Outcomes and goals, a superintendent evaluation instrument aligned to that strategic plan, as well as a budget that is also aligned.

As we embark on this journey together, I am really hopeful that you all will join us in our shared unity, confidence, and hope for what's to come for Henry County School District. I am super excited to be on this journey with you and will continue to provide updates along the way.
