During the Henry County Board of Education meeting on August 12, Board Chair Sophe Pope provided a final Superintendent Update to the community at the beginning of the Study Session.

The Henry County Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. John Pace III as the new Superintendent of Henry County School District at a special called board meeting on Aug. 6.
Tuesday’s unanimous vote followed the 14-day waiting period required by Georgia law. Dr. Pace will begin his official duties as the new Superintendent of Henry County School District on Tuesday, Sept. 3. His appointment followed a thorough and extensive search process that began in February.
The Henry County Board of Education at a special called meeting on July 22 announced Dr. John Pace III as the sole finalist to serve as the district’s next Superintendent. The five-member board voted unanimously for Dr. Pace, who currently serves as Deputy Superintendent for Miami-Dade County Public Schools in Florida, as the finalist to lead Georgia’s eighth-largest school district. Following a 14-day waiting period required by Georgia law, the board will vote to confirm the appointment and set the new Superintendent’s start date and contract.
