This language arts class is designed to increase literacy skills through reading, writing, speaking, and the study of the English language. In Language Arts, students continue to develop an appreciation of written and spoken language, according to the guidelines of the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). These standards incorporate instruction in the following areas: Reading, Vocabulary, Writing, Grammar, and Listening, Speaking and Viewing, in preparation for the Georgia Milestone Assessment (GMAS) which takes place in April/May. Instruction is tailored to meet the academic needs of all students with care and precision. Extensive in and out-of-class reading, individual and group research projects, challenging class discussions, and a variety of writing experiences will be required.
