• Planting for Fall, Planning for Spring

     September / October 2024

    We're excited to share that the Excel Academy Garden Club has been busy preparing for the fall and winter season! Students have started planting a variety of healthy and delicious crops, including beets, turnips, carrots, lettuce, kale, peas, and more. We’re looking forward to seeing these garden beds full of fresh produce soon! Students were able to pick our first round of beets this week.

    In addition to our crops, students also planted tulips in one of our raised garden beds, generously donated by Vego. The garden beds have also been replenished with fresh soil thanks to a donation of six pallets from Lazy Lab Filmworks, which has made a huge difference in the vitality of our garden.

    We recently wrapped up our sunflower harvest, where students handpicked the best blooms and gifted them to staff members as a token of their gratitude. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to express their appreciation for the staff who support them every day.

    Looking ahead, students are beginning to explore plans for creating a cut flower garden in the spring. This will allow them to showcase their creativity by designing and crafting beautiful bouquets.

    We are always open to community partnerships and encourage any organizations interested in collaborating with our talented students to reach out. Thank you for your continued support of the Excel Academy Garden Club!

  • A Heartfelt Thank You to Eagles Landing First Baptist Church!

    August 2024

    We are incredibly grateful to Eagles Landing First Baptist Church for your generous donation of a live oak tree. After our beloved 75-year-old landmark tree was struck by lightning, your kindness has not only replaced what we lost but has also created a wonderful opportunity for our students at Excel Academy.

    Our students have thoroughly enjoyed learning about planting and caring for the new tree, making this a fun and educational experience that will be cherished for years to come. Your generosity has truly made a lasting impact on our community and our students.

    Thank you for being such a vital part of our journey. We are excited to watch this new tree grow alongside our students!

  • Thank You, Vego Garden Give Back Program!

    July / August 2024

    We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Vego Garden Give Back Program for their generous donation of raised garden beds to our school. Thanks to their support, our students have been hard at work since returning to school, transforming our outdoor space into a vibrant garden.

    Our students have diligently set up the raised beds, filled them with nutrient-rich soil, and planned for an exciting fall garden. This season, they are planting a wonderful variety of crops, including beets, carrots, bok choy, radishes, leeks, and an assortment of winter greens.

    The experience of working with the soil and watching their plants grow is not only educational but also incredibly rewarding for our students. They are learning valuable skills in gardening, teamwork, and responsibility, all while connecting with nature and understanding the importance of sustainable practices.

    Thank you once again to the Vego Garden Give Back Program for empowering our students with this fantastic opportunity. We can’t wait to see what our garden will yield this fall!
