  • Hola and welcome to my page! Welcome to an exciting semester of Spanish. My name is Joy Haaf. My alma maters are Georgia Southern University, Augusta State University, and Nova Southeastern University. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Reading Education. I studied abroad in Spain as an undergraduate student. I began teaching Spanish in 2005. I have also taught math, science, reading, and writing. Earlier in my career, I was employed as a Resource Specialist for the Georgia Department of Education’s Migrant Education Program. In 2018, I was a part of a mission team that wrote and implemented a bilingual math curriculum for a week-long STEM camp in Panama City, Panama.

In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, singing, traveling, volunteering at my church, and spending time with my beautiful daughter Eden. I love learning new things. I am passionate about ALL THINGS LITERACY and second language acquisition.

I am thrilled to be a member of such a diverse group of educators at the Academy for Advanced Studies.

Let’s make this a GREAT year!
