Counselor-Student Confidentiality

What you say in here, stays in here!

Confidentiality is the protection of personal information. It means keeping a student's information between counselor and the student, and not telling others including co-workers, friends, family, etc. Confidentiality is an important part of the counselor-student relationship.

There are three exceptions to confidentiality:

  1. Someone wants to hurt you
  2. You want to hurt someone
  3. You want to hurt yourself

If you have questions regarding confidentiality, please do not hesitate to ask your counselor. Your safety is our No. 1 priority!
