ESE Preschool
The Exceptional Student Education Preschool Program serves preschool children with disabilities who reside within Henry County Schools. Eligibilities served include:
- Autism
- Deaf/Hard-of-hearing
- Emotional and Behavioral Disordered
- Intellectually Disabled
- Orthopedically Impaired
- Other Health Impaired
- Significantly Developmentally Delayed
- Specific Learning Disability
- Speech-language Impaired
- Traumatic Brain Injured
- Visually Impaired
Henry County Schools offers diagnostic services to determine eligibility and assist in supporting individual student needs. If found eligible, early intervention services may include, pre-academic supports and services, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, deaf/hard-of-hearing services, vision services, transition support, parent support, training, and other services and supports as deemed educationally necessary by the IEP team. These services are delivered through facility/school based and community based approaches, based on individual student need.
Special education services are delivered by qualified personnel to children with disabilities for the express purpose of receiving early intervention services and supports.
Who is eligible?
Exceptional Student Education Preschool services are available to Henry County children , ages 3 through 5 who are experiencing significant developmental delays in cognitive, adaptive, social, motor, and/or communication or who have other significant disabilities and meet Georgia eligibility for special education.
Who may refer a child?
A child aged 3 through 5 who is suspected to have a disability may be referred by parents, preschool or daycare providers, physicians, community agencies, or other individuals. Parents must agree to the referral and must provide written consent.
What does it cost?
All educational services are provided at no cost to the parent. Funding is provided through federal, state, and local sources.
How are services determined?
Once a child is determined eligible, special education services and supports are determined by the child’s unique learning needs. Each child receives services according to his/her Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
