Student Criteria and Admission Process

Admission to Henry County STEM High School will be determined by a criteria-based application and lottery, with rising ninth and tenth graders enrolling for the 2027-2028 school year and subsequent school years. Application and lottery criteria are as follows: 


Application and Lottery Admission Criteria (Tentative)

Current 8th Grade Students
(Achieved by Fall 2026) 

Current 9th Grade Students 
(Achieved by Fall 2026) 

For a student to participate in the STEM school lottery, 3 of the 4 criteria must be met.  

  1. Scored Proficient or Distinguished on the 7th Grade Mathematics Georgia
    Milestones Assessment   
  2. Achieved 75th percentile score on NWEA-MAP Mathematics Spring 2026 Assessment or higher   
  3. Earned an “A” in 7th Grade Science  
  4. Enrolled in Algebra Concepts and Connections or higher-level math 

 

For a student to participate in the STEM school lottery, 3 of the 5 criteria must be met.  

  1. Scored Proficient or Distinguished on the Algebra Georgia Milestones Assessment. 
  2. Scored Distinguished on the 8th Grade Science Georgia Milestones Assessment  
  3. Scored Proficient or Distinguished on the Physical Science Georgia Milestones Assessment in the 8th grade 
  4. Achieved 75th percentile score on NWEA-MAP Mathematics Spring 2026 Assessment or higher  
  5. Enrolled in Geometry or higher-level math
