Principal for a Day
Henry County Schools' "Principal for a Day" program will take place each November in conjunction with American Education Week. This year's event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 5.
Purpose
To expose members of the Henry County Leadership Community to the day-to-day and minute-to-minute inner workings of the school day and its alignment to school district operations. The expectations is that this exposure will lead to more meaningful and strategically aligned mutually beneficial partnerships between community leaders and the school district.
Overview
During thee Henry County Board of Education Principal for a Day Program, business and civic leaders of the district community will learn about several key aspects of school operations from the principal lens including: 1) Instruction & Learning, 2) Family & Community Support, 3) Student Leadership and 4) Student Supports.
The Program will consist of an 8:30a.m. - 11:30a.m. principal shadow opportunity which will be accompanied by a district orientation (prior to Principal for a Day) and debrief roundtable to enhance the learning experience and to facilitate deeper discussion and introduce the Henry Partners Program.
Eligible Participants
Participants must 1) Be a Henry County resident and hold a leadership position in a local business, civic or government entity 2) Have an expressed interest in developing deeper knowledge about Henry County Schools 3) Commit to attend an orientation session (if not a graduate of the HCS Community Leadership Academy) and participate in the full shadow opportunity program.
