Charter Schools

The Charter School Process Form provides an overview of the timeline and process for submitting charter school applications to Henry County Schools. The petitioner is responsible for adhering to all applicable federal, state, and/or local regulations. Please visit the Henry County Schools and Georgia Department of Education websites for charter school policies and regulations. 
 
 

Timeline for 2025-2026 School Year:

September 30th: Letters of Intent Due

October 15th-17th: Petitions Due

(20 copies and 1 electronic copy on a flash drive delivered to the BOE office Attn: Dr. Micki Foster)

January 13th: January BOE Meeting-Business Item

Next Charter School Cycle for 2026-2027 School Year:

January 20th: Post Local District Timeline

April 1st: Letters of Intent Due

October 14th-16th: Petitions Due (3 days)

October 19th-November 5th: Internal Review (3 weeks)

November 6th: Team Recommendation Due to Deputy Superintendent

November 13th: Team Recommendation Due to Superintendent

November 20th: Decision on Recommendation Due from Superintendent

Thanksgiving Break

November 30th-December 4th: Superintendent Recommendation Shared with BOE at Agenda Review as a Bonus Item

December 9th-18th: Develop Final Board Report for January BOE Meeting

Holiday Break

January 4th-8th: Agenda Review Item for January BOE Meeting

January 11th: Board Report/Business Item at January BOE Meeting
