Ms. Zannetta Walker, 7th Grade Assistant Principal
-
Greetings Ola Team.
My name is Zannetta Walker, and I am super stoked to join the Ola family! I am looking forward to a phenomenal year in collaboration with the faculty and staff, students, parents and the community in supporting the mission of Ola Middle School, “creating tomorrow’s innovators today.”
Just to share some background information about me, I am a Georgia native and the 2021-2022 school year will be my 13th year serving as an educator. In 2017, I obtained my degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University and in 2009; I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Education from Kennesaw State University. In 2004, I earned my Associate of Science degree in Biology from Gordon State College. As an honor graduate of Lamar County High School, I was in the top 5% of my class and served as the Senior Class President. I achieved this accomplishment while also being a starting member of the varsity basketball team, varsity track and field and drum major for the Lamar County Marching Trojans Band. Additionally, I completed my National Certification as a pharmacy technician (CPhT) at the age of 16.
With a passion to give to others as I had received, I began my teaching career at Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia where I taught Biology. After two successful years with the Fulton County School District, I transferred in 2011 to Luella High School in the Henry County School District where I taught Biology until 2015. Upon the completion of the 2014-2015 school year, I transferred to Hampton High School, also in the Henry County School District, where I taught Biology, Honors Biology and Environmental Science. While at Hampton High School, I served in the following capacities: Science Department Chairperson, 2018 Teacher of the Year, Instruction and Personalized Learning Lead and AP Coordinator. I am incredibly thankful for my educational journey thus far and I am looking forward to working with an amazing team in serving Ola Middle School as one of the Assistant Principals.
During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband Cedric of 17 years and our two lovely daughters Aniya Kennedi and Navi Ciara. I also enjoy singing, traveling, home improvement projects, traveling, watching movies loaded with comedy and/or action, and did I mention that I love to travel?
I anticipate that this will be an awesome school year, I can feel it and I am excited! Again, I am looking forward to collaborating with you all as we put in the work to ensure that we uphold our mission to “create tomorrow’s innovators today.” If you need to contact me, please don’t hesitate to do so. I’m an email or a phone call away.
Warm Regards,
Zannetta A. Walker
