Mrs. Adrienne Ferguson
This is my seventeenth year of teaching and I LOVE it. Watching students go from being scared and unsure to having enough self confidence to share their thinking and take academic risks is awe-inspiring to me! I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education from Mercer University in May 2008 and my Master’s degree in Middle School Mathematics and Science from Valdosta State University in December 2010. In addition, I earned my gifted endorsement in 2015 and my math endorsement in 2018. I am a highly qualified teacher. I taught fifth, fourth, and second grades before joining the Rock Spring Elementary family in 2019-2020 school year and although March 2020 was not what anyone anticipated, I am forever grateful of the hard work and resilience of those amazing fourth graders that year. I have stepped out of the grade level classroom this school year and entered the world of EIP (Early Intervention Program) to help struggling learners reach their true potential. These are the students are the ones that
I feel pull me the most.
I have been married for over 35 years to my childhood sweetheart and have two wonderful children, Amanda and Anthony. Those of you who know my children know that they are as different as day and night! Both keep me on my toes! Amanda has two children with her husband Casey. Stephen is an adorable and active kindergartner and Grace is an active baby at 28 months. Anthony graduated from LGHS 2021 and is currently working in the HVAC field. He travels quite a bit out of town.
My philosophy in education is that we are all "a work in progress" and should never be content with what we are now but what we can be, when pushed to do more. Each one of us has a strength and a weakness, and we must work on both in order to improve. I also believe in five "P's" for success... which are to be present, practice, participate, pay attention, and persevere.
I believe anything is possible when we come to school ready to learn each day, when we practice new and old skills, when we actively participate in learning, when we pay attention to our teammates' thinking, and when we persevere when the learning gets difficult, or we fail. (Remember the inventors of Formula 409 cleaner failed 408 times before their product was a success. Now there is a lot of dedication!)
If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here to support you and your child in any way that I am able.
"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions." Stephen Covey
Today is a great day to learn something new!
