The Georgia Department of Driver Services provides a great deal of information regarding teens wishing to obtain a driver's license.  Please visit http://www.dds.ga.gov/teens/index.aspx to learn more about the requirements for teens to drive in Georgia.

Students who are pursuing a learner's permit or driver's license must obtain a Certificate of Enrollment from the McDonough High School main office.  The main office requires a 24 hour notice to complete a certificate of school enrollment.

Southern Crescent Technical College offers driver's education classes.  Class seating is limited to 15 seats per class - it is strictly first come- first serve.  You must have your completed application, a copy of your learner’s permit, and payment at the time of registration to ensure a seat in the class.  The cost for this class is $350.00 (cash, credit card, or money order only) – if you do not qualify for a scholarship voucher.  Scholarship voucher information is listed below.  Please read this information as Southern Crescent Technical College is not responsible for the voucher program.  Click here to access the driver's education packet.  Click here for the schedule of driver's education classes.

    SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/STUDENTS:

Beginning in January of 2017, the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission will begin a new scholarship program in which students may apply for a driver’s education grant scholarship. The student will apply for the scholarship directly from the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission through an online application at www.gahighwaysafety.org/gdec/. Upon award of the scholarship, students will be provided with a redemption code and may choose a provider from a list of authorized driver training schools to redeem the grant scholarship. The driver training school will redeem the grant scholarship through an online portal. Once the student has completed the driver’s education course, the provider will upload a copy of the OCRA certificate to the online portal and request reimbursement for the driver’s education course.  Due to IT infrastructure delays, the student application will be available on March 1, 2017. Please check this website www.gahighwaysafety.org/gdec/ for updates as information will posted as soon as it becomes available, including a link to the student application.
