I grew up just down the road and graduated from Lovejoy High School in 1996. I attended the University of West Georgia until the winter of 1998 when I joined the United States Air Force. Surprisingly (for my parents and myself), I stayed enlisted for nearly 23 years. During my service, I traveled and lived in many places, such as Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Iraq, The United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, UAE, Korea, Afghanistan, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Guam, and Japan. My husband and I have 5 children (ages 12, 17,17, 20, 22) and a fur baby. Our youngest two sons will be graduating from Ola High School in May 2025. Our oldest son is finishing MCT at Camp Lejune, our oldest daughter is attending Alpha Institute and our baby-girl is soon-to-be 13-year-old. We kept our promise to return "home" once I retired, so in July 2020, my family and I left Japan and moved to Henry County.
I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration degree in December 2021. Before that, I earned my Associate of Applied Science in Logistics degree from the Community College of the Air Force. In early 2022, I started tutoring K-5 students in Fulton County 3 days a week. I realized that I lacked current strategies to help these scholars reach their full potential, which led me to enroll in a Master of Arts in Teaching program at Mercer University. During my teaching program, I continued to tutor scholars in Fulton County and began working in Henry County Schools as a substitute teacher. In July 2023, I was hired as a paraprofessional at Rock Spring Elementary. In February 2024, I became the teacher of record for a 1st-grade class. None of my military awards and accolades compare to the recognition I received for my student's progression. I am fortunate to have found my calling: teaching.
