  •  Highlights

The following school highlights are just a few of the things that make Luella High School an amazing place to learn and grow! These four items should allow you to see the rigorous learning, diverse experiences, and supportive culture that exists in our school. In Henry County Schools, we believe in giving every student a high quality, world-class education and we believe these highlights display our passion and commitment to do just that.

    LHS picStudent Outcomes
The 4-year cohort graduation rate at Luella High School increased from 84.95% in 2019 to over 88% for the 2022 cohort!  We believe that each year brings unique challenges, but our staff and community continue to rally around our students to ensure that their experiences and opportunities are not changed! In addition to increasing our graduation rate, Luella High School has also experienced consistent growth in other state accountability measures. In the most recent College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), the hard work of our teachers and students was displayed in our year-to-year growth of nearly 10 points!

We have continued this hard work and could not be more proud of our teachers and staff and their commitment to our students and our community. Luella High School will continue to be an amazing place for students to learn as we continue our pursuit of exceptional!

    LHS picStudent Opportunities
At Luella High School, we believe in creating opportunities that inspire, challenge, and motivate our students to grow! We provide a variety of academic opportunities, including advanced placement and honors courses, dual enrollment courses, a wide range of exceptional fine arts programs, and a multitude of clubs for our students to join at Luella High. One awesome opportunity at Luella high school is our Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program. Our cadets are an exceptional group of students at LHS who serve our community, learn to meet their challenges head-on, and learn the life skill of self-discipline. They compete in drill team, rifle team, and academic team, and you can witness their hard work and collaboration through these experiences.

Our cadets truly make our school and community a better place to be. We look forward to the continued accomplishments and accolades in the future from our NJROTC program.

    LHS picClimate and Culture
Here at Luella High school, we strive to create a learning environment where every student and every teacher/staff member can thrive. We enjoy celebrating the accomplishments and hard work of both our staff and our students throughout the school year and making school an exciting and fun experience for our students. We believe that communication and clarity are two major components of establishing and maintaining an effective school culture. One of the ways we do this is through our weekly newsletter, where our parents and students can stay up to date on all things going on at the “Lion’s Den”.

This also gives us a chance to share the amazing things going on each week at Luella High School and to shine a light on our students and staff! We are excited to continue finding new ways to celebrate and recognize our Lions as they continue to make Luella High School a phenomenal place to learn.

    LHS pic Extracurriculars
Luella High school is well-known for our student-athletes, both in the classroom and in the competition environment. We believe in creating an environment where our student-athletes can be challenged, learn to collaborate, and face challenges head-on to become better all-around students. We have a rich history of students signing scholarships to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. In recent years, we have had players commit to playing at the next level in softball, baseball, and basketball. You name it, we have players moving on to play at the next level in that sport. One team that consistently shines on the court and in the classroom here at Luella is our women’s basketball team. Our Lions have made two final four appearances in the last three years and consistently play at an extremely high level. These athletes also excel in the classroom and embody what student-athletes should be.

We are extremely proud of all of our student-athletes for their hard work and for our coaches who pour their time and energy into our Lions. Stop by and check out a competition soon and you will see what it means to be a Luella High student-athlete!

Student Outcomes information for Luella High School represented on this dashboard includes:

    • 4-year cohort graduation rate
    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-grade assessments for 9th grade Literature and American Literature. The 4-year cohort graduation rate is also displayed on this dashboard. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Luella High School website.
