  •  Highlights

The following school highlights are just a few of the things that make Hampton Middle School an amazing place to learn and grow! These four items should allow you to see the rigorous learning, diverse experiences, and supportive culture that exists in our school. In Henry County Schools, we believe in giving every student a high quality, world-class education and we believe these highlights display our passion and commitment to do just that.

    HMS picStudent Outcomes
When one examines the many facets of Hampton Middle School, he will find that we intentionally emphasize one word…love. English philosopher, Herbert Spencer, said, “The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.” Love is an action that you will feel when you walk through the doors at Hampton Middle School. It is this same act of love that permeates from our school to the community. Hampton Middle School has some of the brightest students within the district. Our collective strength is personified through our students' academic successes. Through the years, we have built a strong tradition of growing students academically. This is evident as Hampton Middle School is the only school in the district where our CCPRI score has grown for five consecutive years.
We contribute this growth to numerous sources, but we cannot underestimate the power of the love we have for each other at Hampton Middle School. When we combine a quality staff, our wonderful students, and our passionate community, it is no surprise that we have excelled in the manner we have over the past few years. The hard work, dedication, and support of the Hampton Middle School community greatly contributed to our successes.

    HMS picStudent Opportunities
As middle school educators, our major goal is to cultivate the entire child at this crucial time in a student’s development. The students at Hampton Middle School have numerous opportunities to showcase their talents and skills on a daily basis. Providing these options for all students adds significant value to our school. Aristotle said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”. Academically, students have an opportunity to enter their Freshman year of high school with four credits (in the areas of Spanish I, Comprehensive Art, Physical Science, and Algebra I). It is our belief that providing this opportunity increases the likelihood of students taking AP courses and dual enrolling at the high school level (taking courses for college credit while still in high school). All students are also encouraged to enroll in one of our Fine Arts classes, where those skills can transfer into greater opportunities in high school and college. Our band and chorus programs provide a solid foundation for our students as they continue to refine their skills for the next level.
The BETA Club at Hampton Middle School has flourished over the past few years. The characteristics of achievement, character, leadership, and service epitomize everything we believe a Hampton Hornet should be. BETA Club is one of several organizations where students, 6th – 8th grade, can serve. The service that our BETA students provide to the Hampton community represents the essence of a Hampton Hornet.

    HMS picClimate and Culture
It is a well-known fact that the strength of Hampton Middle School lies squarely on the shoulders of our culture and climate. We pride ourselves by providing 5-star service to our stakeholders on a daily basis. At HMS, we believe the pulse of any school can easily be measured by the families we serve and the staff who serve those families.

Anatole France, a French poet, said, “Nine tenths of education is encouragement”. Our Hampton Middle School family supports our staff and students in all endeavors. All students have a caring adult in the building to provide needed support throughout the school year. We celebrate the many accomplishments (great and small) with students, which help create a sense of belonging for all. Staff members are also celebrated with a number of incentives and awards to keep morale high throughout the year. The mantra we operate by is to treat others as you wish to be treated. Our efforts have assisted with the lowest attrition rates in our school’s existence.

Students and staff alike adore Hampton Middle School, and we enjoy contributing to something much greater than ourselves. It is our strong culture and climate that we embody to serve students and our community. This attitude of service makes us the best kept secret in Henry County Schools.

    HMS pic Extracurriculars
When it comes to the social and emotional growth of a student, Hampton Middle School is full of opportunities that will assist any child. As educators, we are full of stories of those moments when we transitioned from a child to a young adult. Most of those moments came in conjunction with one of the many extracurricular activities at a middle school.

At Hampton Middle School, it is our goal to maximize the strengths and talents of all students by cultivating their skills while offering a wide range of activities. Whether a student is an artist, an author, an aspiring astronaut, or an athlete, there is a special place for him or her at Hampton Middle School. Our activities cater to academics, Fine Arts, service, and athletics. Regardless of the area, our staff effectively connects the extracurricular activity to what has been learned in school.
Additionally, the extracurricular activities at Hampton Middle teach responsibility, accountability, commitment, and discipline. All of the aforementioned traits are prerequisites to a successful adulthood. At Hampton Middle School, we can say with confidence that we are truly preparing students for all future endeavors.

  •  Student Outcomes

Hampton Middle School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-grade assessments for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Hampton Middle School website.
