    DMS picStudent Outcomes
Per the Georgia Department of Education's most recent College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) rating, Dutchtown Middle school received a 5 out of 5 star school climate rating. Scholar and teacher attendance ranks amongst the top in the district and the state of Georgia. The overall teacher attrition rate is well below 10%, meaning greater than 90% of the DMS instructional staff plan to return for the next school year. During the 2020-2021 school year, we employed a keen level of focus on maintaining a safe school environment while providing both social and emotional support for faculty, staff, scholars, and parents. One of our primary objectives continues to be for us to make every effort to remain connected with our community and all stakeholders. Virtual platforms played a huge role in allowing us to continue to conduct such meetings/events as School Council meetings, band concerts, Parent University meetings, Saturday Coffee & Conversation meetings with parents, virtual chorus performances, ongoing virtual (prerecorded) updates from the principal, and we even found a way to have remote scholars participate virtually during physical education class.

The culture and climate of Dutchtown Middle School is truly a cohesive, supportive, family-oriented group of people from all walks of life, who, in any circumstance will find a way to come together for the good of our scholars and community.

    DMS picStudent Opportunities
Dutchtown Middle School works diligently to ensure that all scholars have opportunities for access to a diverse and academically challenging instructional curriculum, designed to meet the individual needs of each scholar. Such opportunities include but are not limited to our high school credit courses: Honors Physical Science, Honors Algebra 1, Honors Spanish, and Visual Arts.

Dutchtown Middle School's instructional curriculum also provides additional academic support to scholars in math and reading through an embedded fifth academic period.

    DMS picClimate and Culture
Dutchtown Middle School is committed to creating an environment of accomplishment, and maintaining an expectation for high levels of achievement in all endeavors. Despite the many challenges presented by the global pandemic, our scholars and teachers continue to find ways to thrive, embodying the moniker by which we are affectionately known: scholar. We have multiple staff members who have completed certification programs and attained higher education degrees this school year. Our School Nutrition Staff was rated at 100% by the Department of Public Health. Multiple staff members within our building have been selected (this year) to join professional learning cohorts designed to build their overall capacities as leaders. Staff members have been selected to conduct presentations to colleagues in both district, state, and nationwide in their respective areas of expertise.

Jamiliah Busch, Christopher Henderson, and Dastan McKay claimed first, second, and third place respectively in the GA Young Author's District Competition. DMS claimed Best in Show (1st place) in the Art and Film Division, along with six second-place Best in Show awards in the Art, Painting, Drawing, and Poetry Division during the District-Wide World Language Fair. Our lens for achievement ranges far and wide because we strongly believe that everyone contributes to the overall success of the school.

    DMS pic Extracurriculars
The DMS faculty and staff remain committed to creating an active and engaging school environment where we not only encourage academic excellence but active participation and excellence in extracurricular activities as well. Our scholars are granted access to such clubs/organizations as the National Junior Beta Club, Girls R.I.S.E, Reading Bowl, Brothers of Virtue, Spanish Club, Scholar Ambassadors, Partners Club, Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA), and more. All clubs/organizations engage in either academic competitions, community volunteerism, charity events, and/or school-wide activities and projects.

There are also opportunities for scholars to participate in sports such as football, softball, volleyball, basketball, track and field, wrestling, and cheerleading. During the 2020-2021 school year, DMS brought home County Championships in Boys and Girls 7th Grade Basketball, 7th Grade Volleyball, and multiple first-place winners in the county meet for track and field.

Dutchtown Middle School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-grade assessments for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Dutchtown Middle School website,
