The Ola Elementary community is an exceptional learning environment where we consistently evaluate the effectiveness of our teaching and learning and celebrate our growth as students and educators. Our Instructional Coach, Christina Smith, describes Ola as a place where "students develop an awareness of their learning needs and strengths with their teachers' support.
Teachers regularly collaborate to analyze data and design instruction to meet each student's individual needs, resulting in high levels of mastery. Families are consistently informed of their child's progress and included in the work of educating their child. Together, we are an effective team."

    OES picStudent Opportunities
Students are encouraged to explore their passions and interests through academic programs such as Reading Bowl, Advanced Math & Literacy classes, and Junior Beta Club. In addition, students produce a daily morning news show, participate in unique field trips on and off-campus, explore college and career fields, and develop social-emotional skills through the Second Step Curriculum.
Giselle Bailey, Reading Bowl Competitor, said, "I love Reading Bowl because of the people on our team. It is so much fun! The competition gets my heart racing. The books are more compelling than books I usually read." These experiences beyond the classroom encourage deeper learning, making a profound impact on our students. Katie Person, an OES Teacher, reflects, "Advanced Math has proven to be such an asset to students that are high achievers. It is challenging and allows them to think about Math at a higher level...so students are always excited for the chance to dive deeper into Math."

    OES picClimate and Culture
Ola Elementary's learning community is rich with committed families, faithful students, and dedicated teachers. We value and practice being a unified team, choosing courage over comfort, protecting a space for belonging, and serving with joy. As a community, we continuously work towards our goals and celebrate successes along the way.

We care deeply about our student's academic growth, social-emotional development, and love of learning! Mrs. Arnold, a Third Grade Teacher, said it best, "The most amazing thing about our school is we love to CELEBRATE! My students love celebrating every win, no matter how big or small, and Ola thrives in that department. We will chant, cheer, sing and bring the cupcakes to cheer anyone on!"

    OES pic Extracurriculars
Our Colts have numerous unique opportunities to explore the world beyond the classroom and discover hidden talents. Students develop friendships and sportsmanship through our Soccer Club, made possible by our partners at the Southern Crescent Soccer Foundation. Our VEX IQ robotics team gives our most curious students opportunities to design and refine robots and successfully compete with other teams to effectively use communication and collaboration skills. Artsy Colts can join with other like-minded students in the Art Club to create masterpieces such as sculptures, rubber carvings, and spray-paint art. Nathan Waterhouse, Art Teacher, emphasizes that "The club connects a community of students that live for creating art, challenging their art conceptions and abilities, providing opportunities to showcase artwork to the general community, and introducing students to new concepts, materials, and techniques." Our musical Colts in the Ola Maestros Chorus and Masterful Players faithfully practice musical numbers with voices and instruments, refining their performance with each session. Their hard work and dedication are recognized and rewarded with invitations to perform at the GEMA State Conference, Governor's Mansion, local and state sporting events, and seasonal community events.
These groups ignite all areas of children's development through social, intellectual, and emotional skills. The group refines their fine motor skills, language, and overall literacy. Exposing our Colts to these groups teaches cooperation, sharing, compromising, creativity, and concentration skills that become invaluable. They face new challenges entering the world and form relationships with friends, coworkers, and leaders.

  •  Student Outcomes

Ola Elementary School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Ola Elementary School website.
