Hickory Flat has again been recognized as a Title I Reward School by the Georgia Department of Education. This signifies that we rank in the top 5% of Title I schools in the state making the most progress in overall performance of our students. We attribute our students’ academic success to the educational opportunities they are provided through our daily programs and support classes. We strive to find ways to engage students by developing positive relationships, character-building activities, and in supports for social-emotional learning. We have a strong foundation of creating classroom experiences that matter for students combined with our focus on continuous school improvement that propels us forward in our mission to support the whole child. We strongly believe that we teach more than just academic standards at Hickory Flat. We are committed to developing a community of productive leaders and life-long learners, one child at a time.

    HFE picStudent Opportunities
Our Wildcat focus is to empower students to be their best selves, every day. As such, a day in the life of our Wildcats will include engaging hands-on academic lessons, practices that promote social-emotional wellness, interest and talent development, and opportunities for focused learning support and extension through our Fascination Stations.

Our students also have opportunities to participate in various academic events throughout the year such as The Stock Market Game, Reading Bowl, Literacy Days, Spelling Bees, vocabulary parades, and more! Additionally, student leadership opportunities allow student teams that support our school in safety and orientation for new students. For our high achieving students, we offer Accelerated Math options in 4th and 5th grades. We are a National Beta School of Merit and celebrate the achievements of our Junior Beta Club.

    HFE picClimate and Culture
Hickory Flat Elementary has a rich history that began in 1996 when the school opened. The school is afforded tremendous community and family support with an active School Council, Parent Teacher Organization, many parent volunteers, and a stable faculty and staff. Since 2014, 98% - 99% of Hickory Flat’s parents have confirmed in our annual survey that they are satisfied with the quality of their child's education. Additionally, we have earned a 5-Star Climate Rating with the Georgia Department of Education since 2018; this is the highest rating possible. A sustainable, positive school climate engages families, faculty, and staff in supporting stakeholders in feeling respected as well as socially, emotionally, and physically safe.

Hickory Flat Elementary School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Hickory Flat Elementary School website.
