  •  Highlights

The following school highlights are just a few of the things that make Flippen Elementary School an amazing place to learn and grow! These four items should allow you to see the rigorous learning, diverse experiences, and supportive culture that exists in our school. In Henry County Schools, we believe in giving every student a high quality, world-class education and we believe these highlights display our passion and commitment to do just that.

When I think about Flippen Elementary School, I think of the word Family. This school is definitely memorable for being able to develop a sense of Family and closeness amongst the staff as well as the students. I say this because when a teacher works at Flippen, they truly feel like they are a member of a family, and when they leave, they always remember their "Flippen Family!" We always say, "Once A Flippen Falcon, Always A Flippen Falcon." The teachers and administrators care deeply about the students and families we work with. Administrators are always welcoming to different perspectives from their educators. parents, and students. They are open to discussion so that everyone involved can work toward the best interest of students.
Our student population also has fond memories and they often come back to visit their Flippen Family. We do our best to involve faculty, staff, and students in different events throughout the year to enhance our "Family" atmosphere.

    FLE picStudent Opportunities
Flippen is always hosting and participating in after school events that involve our families. For the past few years, Flippen has provided an extracurricular event every winter. We host a ball for the students to participate in after school hours. It is well planned and executed with a great amount of detail. There is always a theme and it includes being able to dress up in formal attire. The students love this, and it gives them a chance to see their teachers 'socially' rather than just as their educator.
Flippen has had several events that have allowed students, families and teachers to build relationship inside and outside of school. Other events include, Family Fun Days, Field Days, Cultural Diversity Night, PINK OUT for Relay for Life, Art Shows, etc.

    FLE picClimate and Culture
We have worked diligently to provide a positive and accepting culture and climate at Flippen Elementary. Our PBIS Team has led the charge with our Student Ambassadors, teacher and support staff of the month, student of the month, positive office referrals, shouts out recognitions, positive pop-ups, celebrations, etc. We feel Flippen gives so many different opportunities for staff, students, and parents that should be highlighted. Student of the Month; Staff Member of the Month; Shout Outs, positive recognitions and celebrations are ongoing.

Our school climate is happy and fun. Students are frequently rewarded with Gotchas and drawings once a week for Gotcha winners! Our faculty and staff go over and beyond to create a positive, fun, family school climate.

    FVE pic Extracurriculars
Flippen Elementary offers a variety of extracurricular activities that allow our students to broaden their minds. Our Robotics team allows our students the chance to program and use 21st-century skills in today's time. The Reading Bowl team introduces our students to the many adventures that await them if they only take the time to read. There are many other extracurricular activities at Flippen that challenge our students and allow them to grow into the young men and women that will one day change our world. Robotics has been a great addition to the school. The students get into the building and coding that comes with the robotics team. They were really excited to join and go on trips to compete against others.
Another event that is memorable for our school is "Taste of Flippen". This event celebrates the different cultures in our school! Restaurants of different cultures come to the school or send food for students to taste. Parents are involved by dressing in attire that represents their culture and/or provide displays.

Flippen Elementary School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Flippen Elementary School website.
