In an effort to increase a love for reading, students were invited to engage nightly in a Mystery Reader for 6 weeks Monday- Friday at 7:00 P.M during the 2020-2021 school year. Students were exposed to published authors, faculty, and staff members reading to the students. Faculty members as part of Fairview's Read across Fairview Campaign submitted pre-recorded videos of favorite books for students to enjoy. All with the intent of building a community of readers by having students learn to love reading modeled by some of their favorite staff members. Bi-lingual story sessions were provided to our non-English speaking family members.
An effort is made to ensure students tie reading into real-world connections through projects such as Art Integration Activities, model building, or service learning.

The faculty/staff and students of Fairview take the connection between building sound social/emotional skills and connecting to the community seriously. Teachers and students spend time weekly engaged in social, emotional lessons in class while utilizing class discussions and interactions with peers to develop ways to be empathic and accepting of others.
Students have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities to include such activities as Anti-Bullying Prevention Days, 1000 Sock Donation Campaign to a Homeless Shelter, Socks of Love Campaign for a local area nursing home, student letter writing to victims of natural disasters, visiting Senior Centers, "Baskets of Cookies of Love" during Kindness Works Week, and a host of other activities.

    FVE picClimate and Culture
Fairview has a commitment to ensure that students of all genders and races feel welcomed and accepted. We have a male mentoring program called Fairview League of Gentleman who are dedicated to empowering male students with the approved grant awarded to the district. Fairview has also established a program entitled 100 Men of Fairview with the goal in mind of having encouraging students through the presence of men who are dedicated to uplifting and modeling for all students as positive role models. Most are fathers and grandfathers of students or former students in our building. These men are leaders in their community, serving in politics, business, finance, business owners, corporate, education and many other fields. Students are also encouraged to participate in the arts as an Arts Integration School.

Students have opportunities to expand instructional presentations to include forms of art through dance, music, drama presentations or drawing. Fairview also has a very involved drama department, dance team, cheerleaders, and chorus and chess club. Speakers frequent the school to share historical references and to encourage students to dream big.

    FVE pic Extracurriculars
Fairview Elementary was the first Title I school to obtain Operational Status for its Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) framework. Since then, Fairview Elementary has emerged as the longest-running operational site in the school district. Fairview Elementary received multiple distinctions. This includes a state-level recognition from the Georgia Senate, as documented in Senate Resolution 302. Additional honors come at the district level, as noted with the District Innovation Award for its Serenity Room as well as recent recognition as a PBIS School of the Month.
Fairview Elementary has also provided a prototype for K-12 schools. Its partnership with the Georgia Department of Education manifested in statewide training modules targeting early grades. The school’s PBIS framework has also garnered attention at regional, state, national, and global platforms.

Fairview Elementary School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Fairview Elementary School website.
