    ELE picStudent Outcomes
At East Lake Elementary, we have a proud history of high student achievement and academic rigor. ELE has surpassed the district and state performance averages on mandated assessments including the CRCT and Ga. Milestones since opening in 2000. In the most recent year of calculcation of the state's College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) scores in 2019, East Lake Elementary achieved the highest score out of all 50 schools in the district at 91.3. We enjoyed an overall increase of 14.4 points in our CCRPI score and made academic improvements in every subgroup of students in our building.

This distinction earned us the "Going Green" award from the state department of education. ELE continually exceeds the national norms and district norms on benchmark assessments and we consistently have one of the highest student and staff attendance rates in the district. We are proud of our continued academic focus and helping students achieve high goals.

    ELE picStudent Opportunities
Students at East Lake Elementary have numerous opportunities to share their academic gifts and talents in the classroom through various showcase opportunities. Events such as Literacy Days, Spelling Bee, Young Georgia Authors, and Reading Bowl allow students to demonstrate their love for the literary arts of writing, poetry recitation, and reading. We have opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents in math with Accelerated math courses in both fourth and fifth grades and through our annual Challenge 24 competition. Our students who demonstrate high academic achievement and outstanding character have the opportunity to participate in the Jr. Beta Club.

In visual art, students are offered the opportunity to enter various drawing competitions throughout the school year and have been recognized at the local, state, and even national levels. During the school year students have opportunities to present Media Festival projects, work on passion projects, and give oral presentations on topics of study. We continuously seek opportunities for our students to share their academic gifts and talents with others.

    ELE picClimate and Culture
Climate and culture are very important to the staff members of East Lake Elementary. We strive for everyone who enters our doors to feel a sense of belonging and importance including parents, grandparents, employees, and visitors but especially our students. Our students are the reason we are here. They are the reason we became educators. We want every student to feel valued, appreciated, smart, and loved. This begins by students being greeted at the entrance door by a smiling staff member and at their classroom door by their teacher every day. Students hear on the daily morning announcements, "Thank you for being present today. Now it is time to be brave in your learning adventure so you can be more awesome!" That is more than a mantra for us. It is who we are and how we want our students to feel, appreciated, adventurous, and confident.

In addition to encouraging students through our words and actions, we also create opportunities for students and families to connect with other families and staff members through events such as Family Fun Nights, College and Career Days, Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week, Field Days, Boosterthon, Family Valentine Dance, Evening at East Lake, Students of the Month, BRAVE students of the week, book fairs, social media posts, weekly communication from the principal, and much more.

    ELE pic Extracurriculars
In addition to high academic rigor and learning expectations we also understand that students have areas of talent and interest outside of their academic studies. We want to support students’ outside interests and expose them to a variety of opportunities to grow in those areas. We achieve this endeavor by offering various clubs and groups in which students may participate. Our club opportunities include art club, gardening club, 3D printing club, tennis club, and music club.

We also provide opportunities for students to build relationships and gain positive influence from others in our groups including Pretty in Pink girls group, Save Promise Club, Safety Patrol, ELKN News Crew, Flag Patrol, and Big Brother/Big Sister groups. We have witnessed the many benefits students gain by participating in these groups and clubs including connections with peers, connections with upper classmen, connections with adults who share the same interests, and the confidence built from interactions in a small group setting.

  •  Student Outcomes

East Lake Elementary School’s student outcomes information can be found on this dashboard. This information includes:

    • Georgia Student Health Survey Responses
    • Literacy Proficiency Rates

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the East Lake Elementary School website.
