I am very excited to be a part of the Gifted Program at Impact Academy. I am certified in grades K-8 and Gifted Education. I have a Bachelor’s degree in middle grades 4-8, a Master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership K-12. The verdict on whether or not I will pursue my Doctorate of Education is still pending, only time will tell.
For right now I am focusing on the most important aspect of my life, family. I have two wonderful children who both attended Henry County Schools and are now in college. I was raised in St. Louis, MO and currently live in GA. We spend the majority of our free time with family and friends. We enjoy visiting our cabin in North Carolina, going to the lake to ski and swim, hiking in the mountains, relaxing at the beach and going to Disney. We love to travel.
One summer I was fortunate enough to spend 3 1/2 weeks in Shanghai, China teaching chemistry. It combined my two favorite things, teaching and traveling! This was just the beginning of my travel teaching adventures.
Growing up as the middle child in a family of 7 prepared me to be the teacher I am today. I can pretty much handle whatever comes my way. My philosophy in the classroom is to encourage life long learners who will have the ability to think critically and creatively, find solutions to every day problems, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with others to make a difference in our world. I want each student who enters my classroom to feel I care about them personally and academically. I do not waiver in my expectations. I only expect the personal best from every student.[ModuleInstance->Description]
