Ms. Jomphe

Bienvenidos a todos! I feel very honoured to teach you!

My name is Annie Jomphe, and I was born in the province of Québec, Canada. I now live in Lithonia, Georgia. I attended university at Université du Québec in the town I grew up in, where I studied Foreign Languages – which, in my case, meant English and Spanish. I also earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Georgia College & State University, where I discovered my love of teaching.  I have been teaching world languages for over 12 years now, and it is my second year here at Eagle's Landing.

Even though most people forget it, I really am not at all a native English speaker. I did not speak a word of English until I was probably 10 years old, where I slowly started the process of learning a second language at school. I did not become fluent until I was at least 17 years old, more or less bilingual until I was 21. I know what the process is like when learning another language. Because of this, I really wish for all of you to feel comfortable in this class, and for you to grow as a student. I believe that language is a key to unlocking other cultures. Understanding another culture broadens perspectives, opens up minds and empowers people to take part as responsible citizens in the world.

If you feel that Spanish might be a struggle, I can tell you that I will do everything I can to help you enjoy and succeed in this class. My goal is to help you grow in your Spanish speaking skills, no matter what needs work.

I am looking forward to teach you and to get to know you better.
