Course Description and Objective:
American Literature and Composition is a chronologically organized and thematically integrated course that is designed to provide students with exposure to a variety of literary genres and to continue the student’s advancement towards mature and refined writing skills. By the end of the course, students will build fluency writing in narrative, persuasive, and informative forms. Additionally, they will write multi-paragraph essays with an emphasis on the following skills: grammatical and mechanical correctness, expansion of vocabulary, reading and analytical skills, application of literary terms, critical thinking, research and information literacy skills, and competency in written and oral.
