• Bonjour et Bienvenue!

I am Tawana McCallum (Madame McCallum), French Teacher at Stockbridge High School. I have had a love and passion for the French language from a very young age. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting and French from Saint Mary's University, NS Canada and a Master of Business Administration (Global Management) from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. I have taught French at SHS for four years and I look forward to my students acquiring a love for the French-speaking language and culture.

I currently teach French levels I , II, Honors III and AP. French I is an introduction to the language and culture of the French-speaking world. French II is an expansion to the first level. In Honors French III, students continue to develop the oral and written language skills acquired in the first two levels. In these courses, the learner will acquire knowledge by integrating the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. As stated on CollegeBoard, "AP French Language and Culture is equivalent to an intermediate level college course in French. Students cultivate their understanding of the French language and culture by applying interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes of communication in real-life situations as they explore concepts related to family and community, personal and public identity, beauty and aesthetics, science and technology, contemporary life, and global challenges."

By the end of these courses, students will have acquired a command of the key vocabulary and structures necessary for personal communication as well as an appreciation of the breadth and variety of the French-speaking world.  The learning goal for students in these courses is to develop various levels of fluency and control of the language in all communicative skills to function in a variety of situations and for multiple purposes with ACTFL: WORLD-READINESS STANDARDS FOR LEARNING LANGUAGES.

    Have a fantastic school year!
