Christmas in Denmark

At Christmas people in Denmark light many candles.  They use more candles than anywhere on earth.  December 25 and December 26 are both holidays in Denmark.  The 26th is called Second Christmas Day.  Christmas Eve is called Juleaften.  It is a very important holiday.

Sometimes Denmark is called the is fairyland because it is very pretty.  Christmas is Spirit of the Day in Denmark.  They play cards and table games with the children.  Cookies can be won at card and guessing games.  Mother reads the Christmas cards and then passes them around the room.  They have different kinds of toys.

At Christmas it is very cold in Denmark.  At Christmas  bells ring.  They also hold hands and sing around the Christmas tree.  They hang a lot of candles on the Christmas tree.
