Hawks

Hawksare predacious and are members of the Accipitridae family. Female hawks are bigger than the males. Some hawks have a wingspan of 5 to 10 feet. Some people mistake them for buzzards. Hawks are considered geniuses in some places. They live on every continent except Antarctica.  Some hawks wait for their prey from tree branches such as Goshawk and Cooper hawks.  These hawks also have short wingspans and long tails.  All hawks hunt a wide variety of animals. These are small mammals, reptiles, fish, insects, and other birds. They have excellent eyesight.  When they see dinner, they swoop down and catch it with their talons.  They kill it and then tear it with their sharp beak.  Each hawk has a territory which it protects.  It may be a nesting place, hunting ground, or a temporary winter home.  Both males and females protect it.  Hawks live in a lot of places.  Some live in forests, some live in fields, some even live in the desert.  They live in Canada and Mexico, too.  I think they are affected by humans in two ways, good and bad.  Good is when we take care of them, bad is when we shoot them or poison their air.
