Student Awards 2005

  • An Eagle's Landing High student won third place at the National Health Occupations Student of America in the Extemporaneous Health Poster category.
  • 27 middle school students were chosen for the Duke Talent Identification program. Three of those were in the top 2% of the Duke Talent Search pool.
  • An Eagle’s Landing Middle School student was elected the 4-H Junior Board President for the State of Georgia.
  • Four elementary students received honorable mention in the Sakura Craypas Wonderful Colorful World National Art Contest.
  • Pleasant Grove elementary students placed for the seventh year in a row in the statewide Give Wildlife a Chance poster contest.
  • A team from Union Grove Middle won the Georgia Council on Economic Education’s Spring Stock Market Game.
  • Luella High NJROTC received third place in the Navy JROTC Rifle Championship, sixth place in the National All Service Championship, eighth place in the Georgia High School Championship. One student won the silver medal individual competition at the All-Service ROTC National Match.
  • Henry County High NJROTC won first place at the Secretary of the Navy National Air Rifle Championship, second place at the Navy National Shoulder-to-Shoulder Championship, third place at the JROTC Inter-Service National Championship, third place at the Georgia High School State Championship.
  • A student from Eagle’s Landing High School won a gold medal at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Job Interview.
  • Union Grove Middle School was named the Social Studies program of the Year.
  • Six entries won first place at the International Media Festival in 2004.

  • Numerous students selected for All State Chorus and All-State Band.

  • Twenty-two students selected for the 2005 Governor’s Honors Program.

  • Stockbridge High school student chosen for the 23005 Georgia Lion All-State Band.

  • Union Grove High School students won medals in Automotive Electrical/Electronics category, Medical Math, Health Occupations Professional Portfolio, Sports Medicine, Prepared Speech, Preschool Teaching Assistant, Journalism, TV Anchor Reporting, Culinary Arts, Basic Health Care Skills, and Quiz Bowl at the state SkillsUSA competition.. One student was elected to be the 2005-06 North Regional Vice President at the Skills USA Georgia State Conference.

  • Five students won first place at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair. Two students competed at the international competition.

  • Two students won first place at the Georgia Social Studies Fair.

  • Unity Grove Elementary’s Junior Beta Club won the state Songfest competition.

  • Four students placed first at the state German convention.

  • Henry County Warhawks – 2005 Class AAAA State baseball champions.

  • Candler Woods - State AAAAA Wrestling Champion 152 lb. class (State AA Champion in 2003 and 2004).

  • Student teams from Union Grove Middle School won the Best Delegation and Best Premier Proposal Awards at the Georgia United National Assembly.

  • A Union Grove High School student was chosen to participate in the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference in Washington .

Staff Awards 2005

  • A Union Grove High School Counselor was appointed to serve on the national Georgia Tech High School Advisory Board.
  • 2005 Georgia Economics Teacher of the Year Mark Jones, Stockbridge High School.
  • 2005 Georgia Preserve America History Teacher of the Year, Stockbridge High School.
  • Dr. Greg Fields, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, received the 2005 Georgia Association of Educators Outstanding Administrator Award.
  • 2005 Augustin Clayton Chapter’s Outstanding Teacher of American History,  Stockbridge High School.
