The Henry County Schools use the character qualities listed in House Bill 605.  This bill mandates a comprehensive character education program.  In Henry County, we infuse character education into multiple school activities and lessons.  Schools may choose monthly emphasis or a weekly plan, depending on the grade level.  For example, elementary schools may choose to continue to focus on weekly character traits, while middle schools and/or high schools might choose to emphasize character traits monthly. At least one week during most months is left open for schools to choose special qualities to include or emphasize that are needed at the individual school.

Web-based resources to assist in the development of character education in Henry County schools are:
CONNECT! A program in Character
http://www.connectingwithkids.com. These support materials include video segments, curriculum resources for grades 6 – 12; web-based correlation to the national and state standards with lesson plans, and a parent resource center.  For user name and password information, contact your child’s school or msurma@henry.k12.ga.us.
